Introduction: A Spoon for Your Spoons

Picture of A Spoon for Your Spoons

a spoon shaped spoon holder for your stirring spoon

Step 1: Sketch and Design

Picture of Sketch and Design

make a rough sketch of a spoon you like then just cut it up and glue it on your board.
I've decided to use Walnut because it's dark and it suits my kitchen but you can use pretty much any wood you would like.
use a bit of spray adhesive to glue the paper to the board, you can use almost any type of glue you can think of but preferably something that will come off easily.

Step 2: Cutting the Rough Shape

I use my jigsaw to cut the rough shape of the spoon then I've use the file to refine the edges a little bit

Step 3: Chiseling the Inside Away

this step is pretty straightforward just take a rounded Chisel and start chiseling away.
I used the file here too to remove some of the Chisel marks and smooth some of the spoon edges notice I left a flat bottom so the spoon won't wiggle around.

Step 4: Sending and Putting on the Finish

just take a spoonful of sandpaper and start sending (bad pun intended).
after I finished sending I applied some food grade tung oil to make it a little more resistant to water and stains.

Step 5: The Finished Product

you can see that after the oil dried the colors of the Walnut really becomes intense which is why I really love Walnut.
