Introduction: Dark Arts Defence Book
I've wanted to make a project like this for a while, so here it is! This is the textbook that Dolores Umbridge used when she taught Defence Against the Dark Arts at Hogwarts!
We'll be transforming an old hardback book into the Dark Arts Defence Basics for Beginners book. I used a vintage copy of Gulliver's Travels that I found at Goodwill, but you can use any book.

Step 1: Video Tutorial
Step 2: Covering the Spine
Cover the spine of the book as well as about an inch of the book front and back cover with book repair tape. This is to hide the book title as well as any of the original book cover that might be visible once we replace it with our printed cover.
Step 3: Printing
Make sure you print the front and back covers single-sided on cardstock. Print the interior pages double sided on regular paper and the library checkout cards on cardstock, double-sided.
Step 4: Cutting
Cut the white space off of all the templates using your ruler and x-acto knife to make sure you get straight lines.
Use a corner rounder to round the corners of the library checkout cards, the pocket that holds them, as well as the outside edges of the front and back cover.
Step 5: Gluing
Glue the front cover over the front cover you printed to the back cover of your book, and the back to the back cover. You can print out the full size template and cut it down to size.
Next glue the inside over page to the inside cover of your book, leaving the cover page free to be turned. Now glue the inside pages in on the first page of the book (should be blank).
When you've done that the book should open to the pattern on the inside cover and the cover page. That should open to two blank pages and then the two inside pages.
Now fold the library checkout card pocket as show in the photos or video tutorial. Glue the two small flaps down and then you can glue the pocket to the inside front cover. The library checkout cards should fit in the pocket.
Step 6: You're Finished!
That's it! You're all done!
