Introduction: KitKat Cake
In this instructable, i am going to show you how to make a KitKat with M&M cake.
Step 1: Ingredients and Tools
For this recipe you will need the following ingredients:
- 200g self-raising baking flour
- 100ml milk
- 180g of dark chocolate (70%)
- a pinch of salt
- 175g white caster sugar
- 200g butter
- 3 eggs
- 400g chocolate mousse
- 325g small KitKat’s (bag of mini KitKat)
- 210g crunchy M&M’s
For this recipe you will also need the following tools:
- Baking paper
- oven (180 degrees celsius)
- Spring form
- satay skewer
- Pan with round glass bowl (au bain marie)
- Mixing bowl
- Electric mixer
- Plastic spoon
- Cake knife
This is everything you will need to create this cake succesfully
Step 2: Preperation
Firstly wash your hands, make some space and lets get started. Turn on the oven on 180 degrees celsius. Now, place the baking paper on the bottom 'plate' and close the lid over the paper. Butter in the sides to stop the cake getting stuck and set it to the side.
Step 3: Au Bain-marie
In this step you are going to melt your 180g grams of pure 70% chocolate using au bain-marie. Firstly heat up a pan filled halfway-up with boiling hot water, ten place a glass bowl on there. Then break apart the chocolate bar and place the blocks in the inside the glass bowl. -Make sure the water is not touching the chocolate.- Then add the 100ml of milk and wait for it to melt. After it is completely liquid, take it of the boiling hot water and set it to the side.
Step 4: Making the Chocolate Cake.
Now you are going to mix together all of the ingredients of your main cake. Start with mixing your 200 grams of butter, 175 grams of white caster sugar and your pinch of salt until it is a light white mix. While mixing, add your 3 eggs one by one into the mix. Then add your molten chocolate to the mix and start mixing again. Then sieve your self-rising flour into the mix. Mix it until it is a straight brown chocolate mix. Pour the Mix into the springform, and set it into your preheated oven for 45 minutes. Check after half an hour with a skewer if the cake is fully cooked.
Step 5: Chocolate Mousse & Toppings
Slap the 400g of chocolate mousse onto the cake and spread it out with a spoon. I you have done this for long enough, the mousse will turn smooth like in the second picture. Open the mini KitKat bags and add them around the side of the cake. Open the bag of m&m's and spread them out on the top of the cake.
Step 6: Enjoy
Now you are ready to eat your KitKat & M&M chocolate cake.
