That sounds fun. Look up e-bow schematics. Generally a couple of coils (pickup and transducer/exciter) and an LM386 amp. Probably have to beef up the transducer as original designs are for strings not gurt lumps of metal.

    Spoilsport!

I think there were two separate charges - one for lighting and one for sockets that might power domestic appliances. Very often the iron would be plugged into the lighting circuit as this was a comparatively low power device which would not damage the circuit but would allow you to enjoy the lower tariff for a time consuming chore. In my parents home in the UK there was a ceiling lighting fixture in a corner by the window which my Mum always claimed was where the iron would have been plugged in.I think certain episodes of The Waltons showed the grandmother ironing with the iron plugged into a lighting socket.

That's for connection to a wall plate. This is a trailing socket for connection to the end of an extension cable.

And I suppose it's cheaper than bulb and socket needed to make this which I actually don't see the need of in this day and age!

You can plug anything into it - just remember it's built for low level signals from a guitar's pickup. Your keyboard probably has line level output which is high in comparison to a guitar. Start with the volume of the keyboard turned down and slowly turn it up 'till you hear the effect you want.I used to own a Hohner Pianet-T which was a tine piano and had a guitar level output so I used a lot of guitar pedals in a chain directly after it. Could make a hell of a racket!

Nice build! Will definitely be taking the Circuit Board Class.

This is fantastic. As a Brit and the son of a butcher I say kudos to you. Just a couple of points, 'cause I'm that guy. Bangers and mash doesn't normally turn up on a breakfast menu in the UK but why not I don't know, it tends to be regarded as luncheon, high tea or dinner/supper. And I can't think of anyone who boils British sausage. That simply doesn't happen. We buy our sausage - fresh or frozen - raw and it is then fried or baked in the oven from raw. Even where we might incorporate sausage into a stew or casserole we brown them first in a frying pan. Why? Because we are wierd brits!

Like I said I don't want to be that guy, but the time I put fake surgical steel in my septum I was in that much pain I thought I might lose part of my nose never mind the piercing. Taking it out and putting the old jewelry back was like a switch that turned the pain off. I never found out what the metal was and was too busy then to take it back to the shop. I've never had a reaction like that since. But I don't want to scare people. I have several piercings including septum at 5mm and a stretched lobe and I wear lots of jewelry so please don't think I'm a po-faced meanie!

These are beautiful and voted for. However, and I hate to be the party pooper, please be careful in the choice of metal for jewelry. Modern brass is a different composition to older/antique brass and is almost certainly going to contain nickel. Nickel is added in small amounts to improve flow and initial casting and patina improvement but will leach out. Copper itself is the next culprit for skin irritation or at least green skin. Using silicone tunnels is a great idea for stretched lobes but perhaps investing in some surgical steel 316L wire for making simple ear wires might be a good idea for those folk who don't have 16mm stretchers like me in their lobesPlease don't be offended. This is absolutely beautiful. Thank you for sharing and voted. I'm amazed that you can get a dapping/doming set like that from your local hardware store or any kind of silversmithing tools! I can only find these things in specialised stores in the UK and I can only think of one that still has a store you can visit (used to be known as Manchester Minerals with a shop in Stockport). But probably wrong as usual.

I did some silversmithing years ago in my early twenties and started out with some files, piercing saw and a burnisher. Heat and soldering was done at nightschool (= learning annexe?) where we also had a polishing mop. My favourite piece that I made was a chunky D-segment ring that I pulled the stock for and soldered up for my Dad. I have it now, alas, but it doesn't fit my porky fingers. Maybe this will spur me on to re-make it. Or at least pay a jeweler to resize it for me! Thanks.

Crepes and British pancakes are essentially the same thing - flour, egg, milk and melted butter batter. No raising agent. British people will use plain flour (all purpose flour I think in America) but the French may use something a bit more exciting for the flour - buckwheat? Also perhaps some cream or fromage frais. And let's not use canola oil - let's have BUTTER!

And is bacon with maple syrup a thing or just on the Simpsons?
