True, but would be nice to take advantage of the center of the blade to secure it safely and firm in the table. (kind of lazy thinking, I know ;-) )

Oh my god, why didn't I think of that. Here I am trying to find an affordable disc sander while the solution was right there in front of me! But it got me thinking. Could one modify an old/dull table saw blade? Somehow grind down the teeth and adhere the sandpaper? Hm, I have to work on that idea! But thanks for the instructable, great idea!!

Wow. One day I so want to do this. It is just so cool and beautiful. One question though, to make sure I got it right. Towards the end of the project, all the resin is pored, cured etc, the acetone is used to bind the existing resin with a new layer of resin? It's the "glue" between the pored resin and the brushed on resin? Did I get this right?

So which one do you like better? The epoxy or the poly one? Personal choice or does it actually make a difference (in sensitivity to stains, cleaning etc)? Great instructable, and now that I know how, I'll get to it this weekend! :-)

How do you prune it? Meticulously, branch by branch like roses or do you just "hack" at it like a hedge? So far I have always pretty much neglected mine, not knowing what to do. Would be nice to give it a bit more shape. Thanks for the instructable, by the way. :-)

How did you get to the exact overall weight? Was it just luck or did you somehow calculate it? Or is it OCD to wonder about that? :-)

Cool. I have been looking into purchasing some, but man, they are expensive. So I have been thinking about a DIY project, but always stumbled over that little detail. Did you see the post from shazni in paper the other day? "Narnia Book Sculpture"? You could put lights into the castle to light up the windows. But even without lights, it is amazing! :-)
