Sandblasting is the preferred method if you have access to a sandblaster. The nice thing about the chemical etchant method is it doesn't require much in the way of specialized equipment. Thanks!

Honestly I have no idea. It depends on what saw blade you get, how good/bad it was to begin with, et cetera. The one I used was a good blade when it was new and it hardened quite well, but trial and error is the only way you're going to be able to find out.
