When I was passing by this instructable on the browse page, it caught my attention and I wondered if a snake would prefer the smooth surface of the wood or something with a more natural surface; I was thinking a snake might prefer to "scratch itself" a little on a rough surface. So, I clicked on your instructable to ask you if you knew which and the first thing I found in the instructable is your link to your "Scratch Box" instructable. That's great idea! I'll bet your snake loves it!Anyways, does a snake prefer a smooth surfaced hide or a rough/natural surface for their hide? In case you're not sure, you could make one of each and see which she prefers to use. To be more fair, both type hides would need to be introduced at the same time, so familiarity doesn't ...

I love seeing your make-up instructables. I like to see your creativity in action and I always look forward to what you're going do next. Just one thing, I don't see here... did you account for an "Adam's apple"? If you're going from girl to guy, you have to add an Adam's Apple.

Very clever idea. I like it. I hope you don't mind a couple of suggestions: I think it would look neater with a more complex design. Example: at minimum, reverse and repeat the current design, so there would be 2 lines crossing is swirls. Also, use some pencils could be set in at different angles to spread out their size, shape and effect., for some variety. Thanks for sharing you cool idea.

Very cool! Made with easily acquired parts. The original movie prop was made with a hard to find, vintage camera flash (the side camera mount kind) and the black stripe pieces of the handle were just pieces of a windshield wiper sliced up. It wouldn't be too hard to use windshield wipers in your project.

This is really cool. I love the WWII Fighter Planes. With a slight modification to the wing shape this could easily be my favorite: the F-4AU Corsair. The spark plug already has the correct shape for the front end. All it would take is the wings to be bent into the "gull wing" shape, bent down a short distance and then back up.

That's what my Dad, the carpenter taught me: to hit the point of the nail with a hammer first, to make it rip through the wood, instead of wedge through it. This would help prevent splitting.

I like it! It's funny how all these people have their own ideas for "short-cuts" to getting the bottle. First, where's their sense of humor? And second, why not just put the work into removing the nuts? It's a good idea, an evil one, but a good one! LOL! Thanks for sharing!

View Instructable »But that's not true: Balloon speed does not equal Wind speed. The balloon gets all it's movement from the wind, but does not travel the perfectly with the wind. Isdubkov: you're talking about ground speed: GPS relative to ground locations.I was wondering too, how the wind speed was measured, since the balloon is not pushed perfectly by the wind. I wondered if there was an airspeed sensor on board. See: http://ardupilot.org/plane/docs/airspeed.html

That was a great present idea! I like presents that are made by the person giving it to me. I like them more than gifts bought from a store or online. When you give a gift you made, you are also giving them the time you used to make it. Time is the most precious thing we have. Also, very nice that you made it Star Wars (especially since you don't like Star Wars), but he does!

- darrenah commented on ShakeTheFuture's instructable Tin Can Hole Saw3 months agoView Instructable »
Great idea! Good thinking! But, if the bottom of the can is a little flexible so the can/saw shakes while you're using it, instead of hot glue, you could cut a disc of wood to place inside the can at the bottom. Or even better yet, use your saw to cut several pieces of plastic, wood or whatever and use those cut out pieces at the bottom of the can. Or just cut the can shorter. Or all of the above. Thanks for sharing this great idea!

- darrenah commented on mraaronhung's instructable Custom Cut Coin Necklaces3 months agoView Instructable »
These are really neat. Nice work! Have you considered using pre-1965 quarters so you're working in solid silver? (Of course, those coins have a collector value that would be ruined if you cut them up.) Or you could purchase sheets of solid silver from a jewelry supplier or website.

Very handy, clean idea, but just a minor helpful comment... storing pens should be pointed down. The rule is: Pens Down, Pencils Up. This is so that the ink runs toward the tip, so they're ready for use. Pencils up, so that they don't grind on their points and have to be resharpened when you want to use them.

You made me think of a good tip, when you mentioned putting a bottle of water in your sleeping bag... In stead of risking getting your bed wet, why not make a reverse ice chest? Use an ice chest to make a heat chest. You could put the bottled water and a hand warmer in the ice chest at night to keep it from freezing and maybe even having warm water for whatever.Thank for the neat instructable.

Hey, the RCX bricks might be cheap on eBay and easier replaced than fixed, but many other battery powered devices are not as easy or cheap to replace. Also, it's better that you experiment on something that IS easy to replace, than experiment on something that would cost a small fortune to replace if the experiment permanently screwed it up. Thanks for doing the experimenting and sharing it. This knowledge will come in handy often.
