About: Advanced 3d Modeling

I created my very own custom instructables class ring! Follow along to see how I created this!

Supplies:

Step 1: Concept Design

Looking at photos of other rings and the Instructables logo, I created a concept of what I wanted the custom ring to look like in photoshop before I started designing it in 3d.

Step 2: Design the Ring in 3d!

I started by creating the base ring shape in 3d. I then used Illustrator to outline the instructables logo, and turn it into a vector shape! I then imported this vector in 3d, and gave it some depth. Once I had all my 3d elements together, I worked on adjusting them to fit together into a cool looking ring design!

Step 3: 3d Printing!

When I was happy with the final ring design, I brought the 3d model into Autodesk Meshmixer, and cleaned it up for 3d printing! The "make solid" feature really helped clean the model up. I then printed the 3d model on my Anycubic Photon 3d printer!

Step 4: Painting

Finally, I painted the 3d print with some metallic gold model paint, giving it a very nice gold finish! This really made the details pop, and made it look like a very cool custom ring!

Step 5: Enjoy!

This custom Instructables class ring turned out awesome! It looks really fun, and is fun to wear!
