Print Flexible Filament With Creality CR-10




Hello to all, in this article we will see how to change the 3D printer CrealityCR-10 to print flexible filaments without any problem.

As many know the CrealityCR-10 has an extrusion mechanism BOWDEN, ie the wire is pushed through a tube in PTFE until you get inside the extruder.
The BOWDEN Extruder on CR-10 is often not very functional in the printing of flexible materials, but with the appropriate changes, everything is possible.

Step 1: Slice and Print

Once downloaded the file STL we need to Slice it.

Printing Parameters:
Filament: PETG by Black

Layer height: 0.2mm

Infill: 100% Linear

Speed: 60mm/s

Slicer: S3D Chris Elkins Profile

Step 2: Assembles the Pieces

After printing the mod , insert a piece of tube in PTFE within the piece as in the figure.

At this point we are ready to replace the original piece, first of all we will have to unscrew the old bowden and then insert the just printed reconnecting the piece where reside the spring and bearing.

After that we are ready to test the new bowden for the test I used a filament TPU of FILOALFA

Step 3: Test

Already at the first attempt the results were good , the CR-10 printed without any problem and without ever jamming.

    I printed a remix of this part that is reinforced, but I also modified the bowden extruder to an "almost" direct one - check this video

    and this one

    Flex now prints great on the CR-10 with speeds up to 60 mm/s (40 mm/s is best).

    No prob with other filament with this mod ?
    Can we imagine drill the hole of original part for put in it the ptfe do the same result?
