Introduction: Up Cycled Plastic Pot
In this instructable I took an old dirty plastic pot and transformed it into a more pleasing flower pot for our garden.
We went to the garden center and purchased a pot of petunias but immediately put them into a better looking pot. My husband usually throws these containers out, but on this rainy day, I needed a crafting project to keep me busy.
We had some rope hanging around in the garage and we always have a glue gun hanging around so I thought I would have a go at making, what would normally be trash, into something more useful.
Step 1: Gather Your Supplies
The materials are simple:
(The photo shows E-6000, but I ended up using only the glue gun.)
Step 2: Spray the Rim With Paint (Optional)
I Painted the edge of the pot with black to give it some contrast against the rope.
Step 3: Adding the Rope
Before starting, make sure your rope is long enough to wrap around and around the pot I cut the beginning of the rope at a slight angle to make it more flush with the surface. Using the glue gun, place a big blob and hold that first piece in place. Now every couple of inches, run a bead of glue then press the rope into it to secure it. Make sure you have the rope taut enough so there won't be any slack. Then just keep adding glue as you coil around and around.
When you get to the bottom, you will cut the rope at an angle again to make it flush with the bottom.
As you will see in the finished product, I went back in with some black paint and paint brush to fill in the spots I created by not letting the paint dry long enough.
Step 4: Add Some Flowers
That's it! Fill with potting soil and add a pretty flower!
