I adapted your idea onto my Highschool graduation dress that was silver and covered in lace. Although I had planned for both sides of my dress to have optic fibers lighting it up, the limits of time only allowed one side to be placed. pockets with the dress had to be made for the 4xAA battery packs that had switches. A single battery pack was connected to a 10mm white superbright LED which supplied light through 75 optic fiber strands, held in place by heat shrink. Each fiber was stranded through the lace dress to distribute the light wherever possible.
