Agreed! Also, I love looking at word roots. How did polite and politician escape me until now?! (And, oh my goodness, could "polite" and "politician" be any more distant than they've become over the last several decades?...)
Thank you for adding your comment! That we share common ground about the need for civilized discourse and constructive suggestions does my heart a lot of good. You know, sometimes I wonder if politicians initially start out with intentions to serve the public good, but then something goes off the rails. Or maybe instead the people who are drawn to politics are naturally already self-aggrandizing and don't really care all that much about serving the public?... I have no idea. But I sure do wish things would change such that Democrats, Republicans, Independents, etc. showed more humility, thoughtfulness, and responsiveness to all of the different walks of life they are supposed to be serving. I guess a girl can dream, right? ;-)Thanks again for weighing in here. It means a lot to me!
Sweet!!! Thank you so much for adding that link and mentioning your experience. I really do appreciate it. :-)

Thank you for your very kind comments. For this Instructable, I especially had in mind people who feel confused by the whole process and maybe don't know where to begin, as well as anyone who has ever wondered what motivates their own representatives and how they can communicate directly with the powers that be--even between elections. Hopefully, some people will find it helpful!?
Thank you for the kind words! I'm not holding my breath about winning. But I do hope that people reading this decide to go vote--especially if they haven't voted before or maybe they were on the fence about it. That would make me super happy. :-)(Oh, and if they make a nuisance of themselves and bug their representatives in Congress about issues they care about even once in a while, that would be really, really good, too!!!)
Entertaining?! Wow! Glad I was able to make something that, let's face it, can be kind of dry, entertaining for you! Thank you for looking and for your kind words.:-D
I am so glad you like it! It did take me a while to put together, but I thought it was important enough that it should be done! (Besides, I'm kind of an insomniac anyway...) ;-pI have entered Instructables contests in the past, but I've never been a finalist. Generally, I've learned to live with that—and for this Instructable, in particular, I've already decided that if it helps even one person out there to feel more confident about voting or more engaged in the democratic process, my effort here will have been worthwhile.
Thank you for looking! I hope you find it helpful!!:-)
Wow! Interesting. I've never seen that before. Thanks for sharing! :-)
What a great tip! Thanks so much for sharing this information. I especially appreciate that younger people can get involved in the process early. :-)
Thank you for taking the time to look at my Instructable and for sharing your thoughts. Here's hoping Lady Liberty becomes stronger and healthier in the coming years! Wishing you well, too! :-)
Thank you so much!! :-)

I am glad you liked it! I experimented with lots of materials until I hit on the right one. I knew I needed something sort of squishy that would take up ink from a stamp pad, and that molding putty works very well for that purpose. It is a little bit pricey though! So, I will only use it for really special footprints. I would be very excited to find a bobcat print or maybe a river otter or great heron... Those would definitely be worth a little molding putty! ;-)

I have not used polymer clay very much, but I am happy with how it turned out. One thing I noticed was that baking mine made it come out darker than I meant for it to and it kind of eliminated/greatly reduced the ombre effect. I also added a couple of embellishments here and there, but I think I like yours better! Also, I glued a piece of felt to the back of mine just to give it some extra durability and stick-together-ed-ness. (Is that a word?...)Anyway, thanks for making this very easy-to-follow Instructable! :-)
