I can't say the T-bar was a necessity, but it definitely gave me more confidence. Remember, I hauled my teardrop from Lawrence, KS to Bull Shoals, Arkansas, 618 miles roundtrip with no problems. But my teardrop is very light...the only weight on the frame is the battery, the wood, the pine framing, the mattress. There's not much weight on that frame. A boxy teardrop is not sexy! Don't do it!
She is sweet. Thank you, Mary.
My teardrop sits in our driveway covered with a teardrop cover about 99.79% of the year.
Great to hear from you Sylvia. Keep up the good work on your camper van build. Sounds fun!
If my little teardrop starts to rot, I shall take it apart and use the wood to make stir sticks.
I have many regrets, and that is one of them. I got it at Batteries Plus. Live and learn.

Reclaimed Wall Map With Epoxy Resin River and Road Inlay (Washington, D.C.)
Thanks, bnmiweaver. I hope you have a great trip. I wish we had a bigger garage, because sadly, my teardrop will be out in the weather, with only a teardrop cover for protection. I'm sure she will take a beating during the storms.

Carl, I just love all the 70's pictures and the fact that you lived in the bus for 5 years. I guess the tiny house movement has been around much longer than I thought. This is a wonderful story, and your skills were amazing. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks, del28it. It took a summer, mostly evenings and weekends. Total cost was a lot - over $4000 because I wasn't really trying to do it cheap.
Yes, they follow the pattern of the trailer.

Hi David,Your method sounds way more sophisticated than screws. I'm sure the great furniture makers of the world didn't use deck screws! Susan

Ooh thanks Henkvanbinnen,I was not aware of the garden bench - it's nice! And looks easy to make.
I don't think Rietveld was a drinker. All the armrests on his chairs and benches were very narrow.

Well, thanks 1265. I totally agree with you! I wish I had taken a picture of it in the campground parked between all the enormous 22' RV's. Hilarious.
Thanks hmbfly1! I would love to see your teardrop! It's so much fun, isn't it?
Hi swray48 - I had a compost bin that I took apart and used the lumber from that to make the raised bed. Around $50 for the wood if you buy it new.
Good idea regarding the plastic on the inside walls. I'll probably just plant sunflowers.
Good idea! I will try cardboard.
Thanks, Skiedra! I hope your teardrop dream comes true.
Hi Pa1963 - I'm in Kansas. I felt like 65 mph was reasonable. Did not get pulled over.
I used the 5 and 1/2" hex bolts to adhere the side panels (the birch plywood) through the 2 X 2 frame. I probably used longer bolts to bold down the deck through the plywood, 2 X 2, and trailer.
Would love to weigh it. Any suggestions on how/where to do that?
I stained and poly'd. Looks nice like that.
