I have this exact model. It also has a 6" riser block installed. I acquired it in working condition about 20 years ago for $100 along with an Atlas floor standing drill press, also for $100. Both were owned by a machinist The bandsaw needs new tires. Where did you source yours?
I believe Dark Solar means polyurethane when 'poly' is mentioned.
You just need to keep in mind that all of those screw heads are now conducting electricity and he mindful of shorting between them.
Couldn't you use the deck to true the drum. Attach sandpaper to the deck and use your adjustment knobs to raise the deck into the spinning drum. You'd have to go slow, but unless the drum is way out of round, this method should work.

He wanted to create a thicker work surface so he split the 2 x 6 down the middle to give him 2 piece that are nominally 1 1/2" x 2 5/8" roughly. Once he laminated them, he had a 2 5/8" thick work surface

I've seen torsion box tables made in Wood magazine for use as an assembly table. They are very flat and light, for their size. Does the heated HDPE give off any fumes or odor while it's heating? Just wondering if the e will have an issue if I try this in her oven.
